More Awards!

Not long ago I received my very first award from Farah. Right after, like a snowball, I received so many others at once at the Awards Gala which happened over at Mariuca's. It was a red carpet, star-studded event! Like Faizal says in his blog, Marzie is a great friend and we learn a lot about blogging from her. Her blog really rocks!
I'm taking this opportunity to thank all my friends, readers and visitors for making this journey so wonderful( hahaha, it even sounds like those Academy Awards speeches, I love it!). I'd like to give special thanks to Mariuca for all the awards she presented me with at her Awards Gala ceremony the other day, and that I was so honored to have received. Mom & Dad were speechless!
Congratulations to all the blogger friends who also received the awards and thanks to all who posted their cheerful comments! I'm so happy with my awards that it feels like I've just received a bunch of Oscars, Golden Globes etc and therefore I'll proudly display them all below. I even got the cool cat award which I'll share with Daisy, because she's the one! She's the coolest cat blogger that I know. I'd also like to give all these awards to Claudia who has a yummy blog in Portuguese.

"The rules of this award are: SHARE THE LOVE!!! Share this award with all those blogs out there that you love. All the people who make you smile. All those that make you laugh. All those that make your day. All those that leave uplifting comments on your blog."

It's Mama's fault!

First I'd like to apologize to my dear friends, readers and visitors for not being around for a while but Mama went on vacation and took my laptop!!! GRRRR! I couldn't check my e-mail, reply to my dear Sushi Lovers( commenters ) or publish my posts. Sorry guys and thanks for your patience.
Right now I'm in Hermann with Grandma A and Grandpa W and when I'm there I have very limited access to the internet. Both Mama and Dad went to California and they told me the hotel they were going to stay was not Sushi friendly and the airlines sometimes make things complicated for me to fly. So they thought it was going to be better if I stayed at Grandma A's.
Even though I have this internet situation going on, I'll dedicate my next post to my wonderful new awards! I was dying to display them all here and I finally got a chance today! I'll be away again for a few days but when Mama returns from her trip, I'll go back to my normal blogger self. So, read on and let's all have the fun over at Mariuca's Awards Gala!

Happy Father's Day!

Today is Father's Day! I didn't get any gift for Dad today, I couldn't think of anything that could make him happy. I think a sunny day out in the park with me is something that makes him happy, so we did this today and we had so much fun! He said I didn't need to give him any more gifts after I gave him my masterpiece painting.
In Brazil, Father's day is celebrated every 2nd Sunday of August.
To all Daddies celebrating Father's Day today: HAPPY FATHER'S DAY!

It's Valentine's Day again!

Yes it is!!!(if you're landing here for the first time, I'm just writing the continuation of my 3rd season) I'm still single but, isn't this a day to celebrate love in general? Well, I know in the USA it is and in the UK too. Of course it is a much more special day to couples but I'm not that bothered by the fact I am single on this day. In Brazil, where Mom is from, Valentine's Day is celebrated on June 12th, one day before (Dia de Santo Antonio)St Anthony's Day, the "Cupid Saint", who is invoked by all single ladies to help them find a husband. I think he is also believed to bless all marriages and help people find things they lost. Some ladies feel kinda sad if they're single on Valentine's Day because the main focus is on the couples and if you're single you get kinda jealous of them. Mama was one of them, she told me. Now she has 2 Valentine's Days to receive flowers, cards, gifts and chocolate: February 14th and June 12th !!!
This Valentine's Day, I had my parents and my Grandma C around to celebrate LOVE! Crafty Grandma C is a cake decorator and made a beeeaaaauutiful, romantic, heart shaped, red velvet cake for my Mom & Dad. She perfectly sculpted them both in either fondant or gum paste and put on top of it. Check this out! All you need is LOVE, LOVE, LOVE is all you need!

A slide show with pictures of the Valentine's Cake from different angles (I think Mom & Dad look so cute!)

All you need is LOVE! Beatles LOVE! I loooove The Beatles...

Breaking the Circle of Trust

Mom & Dad used to go out for dinner in the Summer when they would often overeat. I don't know why! It could be that the portions at these restaurants are so huge, you can always take a doggie bag home (not for me...). Sometimes they would bring it home but, usually they would get home feeling guilty and talking about their calories intake. So, they thought a 45-minute lap around the park would be their redemption and I always got to go with them, yeah!
The park was dark and we were the only midnight walkers. My Dad used to unleash me in the middle of the walk but, instead of going anywhere I remained in my position between him and Mama. Sometimes he would start running so I could chase him. At this point, Mama was apprehensive that I might disappear in the woods or run towards the street. I always showed her that she could trust me because I would take off at full speed, but always came back.
One day however, I was walking in my usual place ( between Mom & Dad ) and all of a sudden I felt the urge to run to the street and started running fast towards it and when I got to she sidewalk, there was a car coming but, I just stayed in front of it for a second (just to say Hi!) and came back running up the hill where my Mom was standing absolutely scared while my Dad was still trying to catch me and leash me again. I apologized to them and I guess they forgave me but, the next time we went for a midnight walk I was on the leash the entire walk. A couple weeks passed and they decided to give me a second chance. I ran away again, breaking the circle of trust. All I could hear the whole night was: BAD BOY, Sushi, BAD BOY ! I felt so bad and depressed that I overate and cleaned my plate, just like them! They were all mad at me except my blue buddy who gave me a comforting hug.

Then I slept like an angel...ZZZZZZZZZZZZZ........

Rainy days, muddy hair, pain in the butt for Mama ...

Whenever it rains Mama goes: Uh-oh! and I understand. I'm hairy, big time, and when most of that hair gets wet and muddy when I come back from my potty walks, she has to towel dry me and then blow dry me with the hairdryer. I'm a good boy and let her do the work without moving too much because I know my favorite reward awaits me! All that drying process lasts about 40 minutes.
Now multiply 40x3(number of walks per day) and you can feel the pain for Mama! This is only in the best case scenario! When the hair is muddy, she has to rinse me and almost give me a whole bath! Add 20 more minutes to the basic drying time! I'm so lucky! 3 walks a day and all this pampering!
And this can go on to the next couple of days even if it doesn't rain because the grass and the ground are still wet from the rainy day. The dryer doesn't bother me at all anymore. When I was little, my Mom put me in the crate and blew dry me through the grid, I was so traumatized! It was a long process till I finally made friends with the hairdryer, I really love it when it blows its warm breath in my hair but why can't it do it without damaging my ears?
I have some shots of the rainy days hair to share with you all below:

MUDDY!

UH-OH!

Salary negotiations

Ok, this is what was happening behind my first Wordless Wednesday post. A lot of bloggers participate in WW and it's lots of fun!
Some people like my buddy Zubli, thought I was only staring at the computer and therefore my Wednesday had to be wordless, he told me. He didn't notice that my computer was on(see the blue button?) and I have a privacy film on my screen, but I was working hard, having an important meeting with Teddy, because since he returned to the blog he's been doing a nice job(if you can't see him on the picture scroll down to the very bottom to meet him). We were discussing something in private but now I want everybody to know the outcome of the meeting. Check Wordless Wednesday now with words :

As you can see, I know how to reward good employees and a job well done. I hope Teddy will love me for that and keep up the good work.

Breast Cancer Month of June

I've been tagged again by my blogger "tagger"(no graffiti hehehe)friend Mariuca -thanks a lot Marzie!
This time is to help spread the awareness on the ‘Breast Cancer Awareness’ month of June. Please help convey the importance of regular examination and early detection of breast cancer in order to catch this disease when it first erupts, maximizing the chance of survival and recovery. So in doing my bit to help spread awareness on the issue of breast cancer to women, here are several facts on breast cancer that everyone should know about.

• The first sign of breast cancer usually shows up on a woman's mammogram before it can be felt or any other symptoms are present.
• Risks for breast cancer include a family history, atypical hyperplasia, delaying pregnancy until after age 30 or never becoming pregnant, early menstruation (before age 12), late menopause (after age 55), current use or use in the last ten years of oral contraceptives, and daily consumption of alcohol.
• Early detection of breast cancer, through monthly breast self-exam and particularly yearly mammography after age 40, offers the best chance for survival.
• Ninety-six percent of women who find and treat breast cancer early will be cancer-free after five years.
• Over eighty percent of breast lumps are not cancerous, but benign such as fibrocystic breast disease.
• You are never too young to develop breast cancer! Breast Self-Exam should begin by the age of twenty.

You can help the lives of many women by spreading the word about The Breast Cancer Site pink button as many times as you can. If The Breast Cancer Site receives 8 million clicks on the pink button in June, their premier sponsor -Bare Necessities- will donate $10,000 for more free mammograms. CLICK the pink button today!

Mama & Grandma C's weekly classes

While Grandma C is naturally crafty, Mama is definetely not. However, she thought it was going to be an amazing opportunity for Grandma to enroll in a cake decorating course since she was going to stay here for a long time. Back in Brazil, she has always made and decorated beautiful cakes for family and friends but, she wanted to learn new techniques and tricks. So, Mama also enrolled in the course, a 4 month cake decorating course, mainly to drive Grandma C to school but also to have fun and see if she could awaken the little artist in her, the little cake decorator hahahahaha. They had the same wonderful Wilton Method instructor, for the 4 modules, the sweet Doreen(Crafty DC), who always had some freebies and nice little tools to give away to her students. Classes met every Monday night and although I was left alone in the house,(those were also the nights my Aunty H, would ride with them and go to the shopping mall close to their school)I knew it was going to be only a couple of hours, so I didn't care that much; it was great to see them come back home full of enthusiasm about the new cake assignment for next class. Below are most of the cakes they made throughout their cake decorating course, a few of them were made in Brazil by Grandma alone, like the Spider Man and the Hello Kitty ones. Congrats on your lovely cakes Mama & Grandma!

Bad medicine, YUCK!

It was a Sunday afternoon when we came back home and my Mom was the first one to notice my face was about half a size bigger than usual. I don't remember having felt any sick nor have I realized I was so swollen. Mama immediately brought me to Dad and went downstairs to pick up the phone and call my doctor. My Grandma C and E, who was visiting with us that weekend, were both downstairs and started asking me what I ate last night. They were all making assumptions about what might have caused the problem but said I'd better be on the safe side and go see the doctor. They were worried too. I wanted to look at myself in the mirror but they told me that I'd better not. Oh Gosh, I wonder how ugly I must have looked. Mama was so worried that she couldn't even speak English anymore, but she did get her message across to the doctor who was professional enough to show up in his convertible and see me at his office on his day off. Needless to say, we had to pay him a lot for the incovenience we caused him, and in the end the diagnosis was I had been stung by a bee, wasp or whatever! I just know this was the most expensive Benadryl I've ever had to pay for. Maybe I'll be a doctor when I grow up and have a nice convertible. My Dad had to struggle a little bit to get the Benadryl down my throat. It tasted awful! Check out the video below:
