Teddy is back!

Not long ago I fired Teddy, my iPod, for being a terrible DJ and playing only one song all the time whenever he wanted. Every time a new page opened in the blog, I'd hear the same track over and over. That's why he got fired however, because I liked him as a person I gave him some advice and told him to learn more about being a Blog DJ, how things work out on blogs etc, and in case he wanted to return and work for this blog again, I'd give him another opportunity. I think everybody deserves a second chance. I've also been looking for another DJ/iPod for my blog, but the candidates out there are demanding high salaries and they don't look as cool as Teddy. He has a great selection of clothes and even his skin color can change if he wants to! He still works at the bottom of the blog area and plays on demand. He'll remain silent during your visit unless you tickle his belly by clicking on the PLAY button. Once you do that, he'll shuffle all the songs for you or, you can advance to the next track by clicking the FAST FORWARD or BACK buttons, all in Teddy's outfit. So, we'll see if the rehiring of Teddy was a smart decision, I hope so. Welcome back Teddy!

My first Meme- Part 2

Ok, this should be fun for all! It's the Japanese name meme! My name is already Japanese but, based on the alphabet below it becomes totally different from Sushi. Grandpa K, your mother tongue is really complicated!

So, according to the table above:

S= Ari
U= Do
S= Ari
H= Ri
I= Ki

And my "Japanese" name is: ARIDOARIRIKI ! Funny no?
Is that so, Grandpa K? Now, your turn!

1. OSWALD - Moarimeikatate (sounds like america and states. har... har... har ...)
2. CHLOE - Miritamoku (Um... think I still prefer my given name, ha ha)
3. GENG - Jikutoji (Actually, I think it's cute sounding. Arigato gazaimasu!)
4. CONSTANCE - Mimoto arichi katomiku (WOW! Does it sound like an authentic Japanese cuisine? YIKES! I broke it up cos it was quite a mouthful!)
5. DORA - Temoshika (Sounds pretty good huh?! Does it mean beautiful woman?)
6. NESSA - Tokuariarika (macam seterika je... sounds too masculine instead of feminine though)
7. SPIFF - Arinokilulu ... (sounds like something from Lilo & Stitch!)
8. JANICE NG - ZuKatokimiku ToJi (lolxxxxx)
9. MARZIE - Rinkashizikite (WOW! Very hard to pronounce but love that my Japanese name starts with an R!)
10.FARAH - Lukashikari (I hate this name, it sounds like 'lu kasik kari' translated: you gave curry) hahahahah
11. DEBBIE - teku tutu kiku (lol! Sounds like 3 kawaii characters of a very cute Japanese anime! Love it!)
12.RATU SYURA - Shikachido Arifudoshika (Try saying that 10 times in a row without twisting your tongue!!)
13. EMILA - Kurinkitaka (Yummy! Sounds like a sushi dish!)
14. SUSHI- Aridoaririki ( another version of an already Japanese name?)

Memes- I was tagged !

Does the title of this post sound like it's in English? We all know it is. However, I had to look up in Wikipedia what a Meme was and found a very long description but, to make it short and sweet, a Meme is:
A meme (pronounced /miːm/[1]) consists of any unit of cultural information, such as a practice or idea, that gets transmitted verbally or by repeated action from one mind to another.
I also found the definition I was looking for that applies to the blogosphere:
"Internet Memes" propagate quickly among users using email, websites, blogs, discussion boards and other Internet communications as a medium.
I'm fairly new to the blogging world and there's a bunch of new stuff and lingo that I stumble upon all the time and I do feel my English is not enough.
Ok, now on to the second part : I was tagged! Ok, that seems easier. In this case it means: I was tagged by Mariuca = I was selected by Mariuca. You might be thinking, this still doesn't make any sense!(I'm talking about readers who are non-bloggers but enjoy reading blogs). Just trying to explain what's going on so it'll be easier for them to understand future posts. Blog pros, please ignore what you've read so far. You've already done tons of memes before. Now carry on reading.
All right, I was tagged by Mariuca, a great, very successful blogger friend, who honored me with this tag on her blog. This means she selected me and some other fellow bloggers to do a Meme and provided a direct link from her blog to my blog as well as to their blogs. This is really nice of you Marzie, thank you so much! I hope I can do it right. This will be my first time doing a Meme and it happens to be a 3-in-1 Meme, but it looks easy and lots of fun. Here we go!

Saying good-bye to one by one, little by little

The first to leave for Brazil was L, bye L! The second was my Grandpa K... I'll miss my walks and playing with him. The third was my Uncle K, I'll miss you too and thank you again for finding me when I got lost. They all left in January 07. My fashionable Aunty H left in early February. Thanks for my new outfits and for inviting me to model at your Fashion Show. I'll miss you! The house was getting emptier and emptier...Bye everybody!
Now the only one left is my Grandma C, I don't even wanna think about the day she'll leave us for Brazil... Well, I still have about a couple more months with her, and that means more walks in the park for me!

Chopsticks

My Grandpa K was born in Brazil but both of his parents came to Brazil from Japan a long time ago, I believe they came in the second ship. By the way, this year marks the 100th anniversary of the Japanese immigration to Brazil. Since the beginning of the year they've been celebrating and will continue to do so till the end of the year. Grandpa spoke only Japanese up to 8 years old when he first went to school and once there, he started learning how to speak Portuguese. Another skill he learned that he never thought would come in handy was eating with chopsticks. Well, not only eating with them but also using them skillfully.

Ok guys, get ready for this, it's really nasty. One day I was walking with him and did my business(number 2). Suddenly he realized he didn't have any poop bags so what did he do? You guessed it right! He improvised some "chopsticks" made of tiny pieces of tree branches he found on the street, picked the poop up, and dumped in the nearest trash can. One needs to be very good at using chopsticks to hold the "business" firmly during the trip to the dumpster(about 2 blocks away !) I told you this was going to be nasty...Poor Grandpa, sorry for embarassing you too. I'm glad you know how to use chopsticks though. Next time I'll remind you: Grandpa, don't forget the poop bags !

Mama's Birthday present

Yesterday, May 25th 2008 was Mama's birthday. Happy Birthday Mama!
I'm not telling you her age! SHHHHH! I've heard people say you should never trust a woman who tells her own age, because if she can tell you that, she can tell you anything. I think this is all BS!!
Anyway, she got this Xbox American Idol karaoke revolution game for her B-day from my Dad and also the "Rock Band" game, and all they did today was sing. E is visiting from St. Louis and the 3 of them just got off the mic to eat, drink or go to the bathroom. I couldn't sing along because the lyrics on the screen were not in WOOF so I thought just humming the songs would be kinda stupid. I had no choice other than listen to them sing, sing and sing! Sometimes they would sing completely out of tune and I'd tilt my head to either side and tell them my ears hurt!!! I don't know why but whenever I hear a siren, an alarm sound or any annoying sound like these 3 singing karaoke, my head tilts, left, right,left,right... They didn't care, they were just having a lot of fun.
Dad did pretty well in some songs, even Simon Cowell had something positive to say about his performance. Same with E, he was actually very good in most songs. Mama also did well in some songs but did excellent in the one song(that Titanic theme song, argh!!)that put her in the finals. Now guess who the new American Idol is:

A) Daddy
B) Mama
C) E

The new American Idol is.........................................letter B, MAMA !!!!!
Well, she should actually be called the new " Brazilian Idol" .... in America!
She deserved it; it was her Birthday but in my opinion, she was just the best of the worst( sorry Mom, I just watch Simon Cowell and Chef Ramsay too much).
Hopefully I won't be deaf tomorrow. Feel really sorry for the neighbors...

Embarassing Grandma C

Grandma C always took me for a walk when Mama was at work. In the beginning she wasn't used to the rectractable leash, you know, the one that gives me more freedom. But right on the second walk she was mastering it and pulling me towards her when crossing a street. She had to do that because I go crazy marking my territory and sometimes I'm not aware of cars. Attached to the leash handle, there is a purple bone shaped poop bag container. When a bag is pulled from the roll, the tip of the next bag sticks out and they are used as needed, in other words, when I get my business done. As you can see, my business doesn't involve picking it up, just doing it, simple! I'm a busy man and sometimes, I do more than one business per walk, which happened when my Grandma C realized she ran out of bags to pick up my second poop, right in front of the police officer's car! Not only was she embarassed but she was also afraid to be given a littering ticket. To her luck, the policeman was not looking at us, so we quickly ran home. Sorry Grandma! Now, she always checks if she has enough poop bags. What was really great was(only Grandmas can forgive in a situation like this)we came home and I got a cookie and lots of love. Check out the pictures before and after the walk.

Already excited to go for a walk; just waiting for Grandma to show up in the deck with the harness and leash, yeah!

Starting to walk around the neighborhood, ooooh freezing!!!! My Grandma was cold, but that was not the only reason why she wore her knit hat like that. She never likes the way she looks in pictures and so does everybody else in the family, except Mom and Dad. As you could notice from previous posts, nobody in the family likes pictures...

Looking for the right opportunity to do the business.

This spot seems perfect!! ( right under the police's nose...) Stinky poo! You can tell my Grandma is already pulling me out of the crime scene.( I'm not even fully pictured here!)

I look one way.

She looks the other.

C'mon Grandma! RUUUUUUNNNNN!!!!

Back home being rewarded, for doing my business in the right place( which means NOT in the house)

Enjoying every bit of my cookie.

Done!

Grandma's calling me! Sushi!!!
Maybe another cookie??? I'm excited!

Not really, just Grandma's lap, being rewarded for embarassing her.

Aren't Grandmas the best?

PS: Hair still scruffy from Fashion Show...

When will you be here, Summer?

All right! " What is your favorite season?" poll is now closed. Summer won big with 76% of the votes and that's also my favorite, so I won! I think I'll have my hair cut shorter this Summer, we'll see... for the moment I'm fine with my natural coat, meaning it's still cold! I want Summer!!!
Second came Spring with 15% and Fall in third with 7%. Winter "only" got 0%(ZERO!%)of the votes and I'm so glad there isn't anyone insane out there. Well, but we have to take into account that nobody lives in the same place and that it's all a matter of perspective. I'd say if you lived where I live, you'd be insane but, if you live in hot and steamy weather all year round, it's OK to vote for "Winter" ( no snow or no temperatures below zero, only a refreshing thunderstorm and lots of rain...)
Since this week was Fashion Week, a new poll is now open for you : " Who is your favorite fashion designer?" Please pick yours (you can vote for more than one) and we'll see the results in 2 weeks!

Teddy just got fired

Who remembers Teddy, my iPod? He was working in the blog until this morning and he just got sacked. He was the kind of guy you either loved or hated; there was no "in between". At first I loved him, he was my buddy but, the problem with him was he didn't shuffle the songs properly and kept repeating the only one song that he liked. I was quite annoyed by that even though I liked that specific track. He was a terrible DJ. Personally I liked him, he looked cool but, I couldn't keep him here with me any longer. Now I am looking to hire a new iPod and I'm starting my search for suitable candidates. I'm looking for someone whom I have control over, not that I am a bad, manipulative employer but I just want some peace and variety every once in a while, everybody does I suppose. Teddy was just not right for this job, period. Sorry... Hasta la vista Teddy!!!

Fashion Show- I'm bringing sexy back!!!

When I was 10 months old, I had my pictures displayed on a billboard in Times Square, NYC and I really loved to be on the spotlight. I know I'm not that tall so I thought I was only good for catalog/picture modeling and not tall or slim enough for the catwalk. My family and especially my Aunty H who is all into fashion convinced me I could do at least one fashion show for her 2 piece collection, one summer and one winter outfit. She didn't have the same infrastructure of her own atelier in Brazil to sew those pieces at our place, so that's why the collection was very limited. Since I had to model only 2 outfits, I accepted the invitation to go to Bryant Park and showcase My Aunty H's lovely collection. It went gangbusters and the papparazzi didn't leave me alone. I'm bringing sexy back babe! Check it out! (Note the little video I added to this slide. It's a segment of the Victoria's Secret fashion show studded with stunning models most of them from BRAZIL like Mama) Have fun with the shows!

PS: My hair looks unruly, but that's all on purpose, you know how these catwalk models look like they've just been punched in the eye or a tornado just hit their hair sometimes. They also put some sort of red eyeshadow on my eyes, really weird. That's how the fashion world is, you can't please everybody...

PS 2: If you don't like the music just click on the sound icon and it will stop playing.

OUCH !!! I asked for it...

OUCH!!!(in WOOF- my "out of control" language: WOOOOOOOOOF!!, WOOOOOOOOF!!) This could be heard about 50 miles away from the doctor's office. The reason: getting microchipped. OUCH! WOOOOOOOF!!
The needle was as thick as one of my nails. The chip was like a tiny capsule that contains a unique identification number which can be read through my skin by a special reader. This number provides information such as my parents' names and our address, so in case I get lost, my parents can be notified that I was found.
That's the price I paid for being a bad boy and running away from home. I don't need that in my body, I'm no Jason Bourne, I know exactly who I am, where I live and how to get there. OUCH!! It hurt!

Daddy got jealous...

He saw my painting of Mama and wanted me to do one of him too. I thought about giving that to him on Father's Day but I guess now I have to think of a different present. Here is my Da Vinci's talent on this painting of Dad : He is wearing a suit like de does every day to go to work and he's holding a can of cola since he can't live without it. His favorite is Diet Coke but he can drink Diet Pepsi too and tell the difference! Who can't? He's also a fan of Dr. Pepper, Mountain Dew and Root Beer. Pop, soda, soft drink, whatever you may call it( I call it Dad's water), as long as it's the diet version, will always take up a lot of space in our fridge. Daddy was very happy with my masterpiece. This is Daddy.

Starting 07- A hell of a scare!

This particular day must have been one of the most eventful days of 2007. We're off to a good start, keep on reading.
Early January morning, my Grandpa K, Aunty H and L left the house to go shopping ( after Christmas sales, who wants to miss that? ). Well, probably my Uncle K and Grandma C for some reason didn't wanna join the others and stayed home. When the 3 of them opened the little gate in the backyard to leave, I thought I was going to go with them but they didn't let me through by shutting the gate behind them. As they were walking away from it they started waving good-bye to me: Bye Sushi! Bye!!! DON'T EVER WAVE GOOD-BYE TO ME! I felt I was missing out a great outing and somehow I manage to squish through the narrow gap in the gate, simply ran away from home and tried to catch up with the 3 of them. I had no luck, I searched all over the neighborhood and no Grandpa K, no Aunty H and no L !! Where could they be? All of a sudden I found myself in a similar backyard to mine, so I felt like home. I was there for a while and the neighbor down the street was really kind to let me play in her yard. I thought I heard my name. It was my Uncle K's voice calling me: Sushi!, Sushi! Then, all of a sudden I saw him approaching the backyard and talking to the neighbor. Next, I was in his arms being taken back home. When we got there, my Grandma C was really nervous and so was my Uncle K. They were in panic, I think. They both told me off and only told Mama when she got home from work. Then again another "telling off" session started, Oh my God why so much fuss? I could've figured out how to do it on my own, maybe it would've taken me longer. Don't they know I have a super accurate sense of smell? Anyway, I thank my Uncle K for having found me, taken me back home and saved me some time.I'm serious now you saved me Uncle K! Thanks and sorry Grandma C and Uncle K. Happy new year!

Still down memory lane but... finally starting my 3rd season!

Procrastinator!, you might be thinking. Ok dear readers, we are finally in 2007! It was a year of major changes in both mine and my parents' life. So here we go. After Christmas, they all headed back to Saint Louis, except me. I thought I have gone back with them but I didn't. I stayed either at my Grandma A's or Grandma J's, can't remember but probably stayed at Grandma A's because it was closer to Saint Louis, so it would be more convenient for Mom & Dad to pick me up after they all(all of them)returned from a wonderful trip to NYC for New Year's Eve at Times Square. I was really hurt, I wasn't invited to go along to see the Times Square Ball drop and the fireworks. Well, I watched it on TV and didn't need to stand 4 hours in the cold, freezing cold to see a minuscule ball dropping from afar as the clock ticked towards midnight. Instead, I saw it much closer than they did through the TV images and in the comfort of a warm home, wherever I was. Grandmas' homes are always a sweet and warm place to be. So I was ok and not so hurt anymore when I learned it was not all that, but they all recommend anyone to do it once in a lifetime. I don't think I'll ever want to do this, I'm not into suffering for a long time to get a little moment of joy for a short time. Let's get 3rd season started!!!

E & L

They are my Dad's cousins and best friends. They both saw me since my second day in the house. E is Orson's Dad and L doesn't have any children, but loves Orson. L likes to play RUFF with me like tug of war and stuff like that. They used to come visit a lot because we were neighbors and have BBQ in my deck. I loved that smell coming from the gas grill and stayed around to see if I could catch some food that would fall from the table. I had no luck, because even if something did fall, there were 4 attentive pairs of eyes observing me nonstop, actually 2, Mom's & Dad's. I don't think E or L cared that much if I ate 2-legged people food. This is controversial; some people think it's ok to feed 4-legged people 2-legged people food, others are totally against it, like Mom & Dad for example. I think E just feeds Orson his special food too. We(me & Orson)are both very healthy!
E & L : you are my Daddy's buddies so you are my buddies too! I really miss the BBQ's in the Summer time with you guys.

Mama's present

We had a great Mother's Day although the weather was gloomy and we had to go out in the rain for me to go potty. Mama and I got home soaking wet. Dad helped Mama dry me but he was playing RUFF throwing the towels at me and having fun watching me get FIEEERCE with them. Mom had to dry me with the hairdryer for almost one hour and this is not an easy job because I'm so hairy! In return and because it was Mother's Day I gave her a surprise gift I've been working on for about a month. It is a painting of Mama I made myself. I tried my best to portrait her features, and I think I got pretty close except that I made her a bit chubby and couldn't make her eyes more slanty. She is wearing a nice outfit for Spring with the Brazilian flag colors. She was really happy with it and told me I was her little Da Vinci.

Happy Mother's Day!

All the Mamas in the world, I wish you and your families a very special day, filled with joy, nice surprises, flowers(atchoooo!,hayfever! I can't even think of them...but they're beautiful and you all deserve them), great food and your loved ones.
Mama, tomorrow is your day, I know sometimes I've been kinda bad especially when I was younger, I raised my voice and talked back to you. I apologize, from the bottom of my heart. I wanted to give you a but, for some strange reason you don't appreciate this form of affection. Sorry Mama, you're weird but, I love you. It's OK, I accept that... I'll give you a million hugs instead, how about that?
HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY !!!

Mama's slippers

Talking about some issues of the past, this particular one couldn't have been left unmentioned. The winter is always very harsh and even indoors with the heater on, Mama needs to wear warm clothing especially on her hands and feet. No problem with her wearing slippers as long as they don't pose threat to my territory. Initially that was exactly what I thought: a couple of identical individuals taking over Mama's feet as well as my personal property. I couldn't help but start protesting and battling against those trespassers. I yelled,I charged them, I even bit their ears and... Mama got upset and told me off! I don't understand this, I'm trying to protect her and the house and she took their side, life is not fair...
As time went by though, I realized those two idiots, didn't know how to stand up for themselves and were utterly harmless. I gave up! Mama also told me I shouldn't mistreat them because they helped keep her feet warm in the house. Today, I just ignore them. Hum, I haven't seen them in a while, they must be retired now and Mama must've gotten rid of them. Look at their silly faces...

Video upload ok!

I've just uploaded a new video to one of my Christmas 2006 posts. It's me playing with Sammie and my cousin S. Thanks Aunty L and Uncle B for letting me share this video of S with everybody. Watch it here.

Rakes, brooms, brushes, dustpans, vacuum cleaners and the like

I'm kinda lazy at this point to start writing my "third season". Before I start with the year 2007, I want to include some events that passed me by and I just remembered a couple of days ago. It was in the Fall of both years 2005 and 2006, when my Mom had the daunting task of raking all the leaves in the backyard, putting them in a huge storage box and making endless trips to the "yard waste only" dumpster. I liked to be around Mama especially outdoors because she could kick my silver soccer ball at any moment to play a little with me, in order to have a break from work. I used to chase that rake back and forth; it drove me and Mom crazy and since I was out of my mind, I also screamed WOOF at it non-stop. When things got really bad and I was out of control, Mama was afraid of hurting me with the rake and therefore she had to stop and scold me. I was so infuriated I couldn't pay attention to what she was saying, so she turned me upside down and I got scared. The same thing used to happen inside with brooms, brushes and dustpans. Whether it was at home or at someone else's home I was always disturbed by these skinny bristly creatures. I challenged the vaccum cleaner a couple of times but realized its voice was much louder than mine so, I began to respect it more than the others but, thanks to my Mom's turning me upside down every time I had and issue with the others, today I respect them all and don't feel like chasing or yelling at them anymore. They are part of the family too. They live in the closet and they must love to stay there because they only go out once a week or less. I know I'm Mama's favorite ;)

Blog's new look

Winter is over... I hope.... so I changed the dark blog colors to lighter ones. It's Spring time yeah!

Spring time, new poll !

No doubt it's a beautiful season, all flowers in bloom and tulips of all colors decorate the streets of Chicago(where I live)and Detroit( where I am now). I will tell you later how I ended up in these cities after Saint Louis. My eyes are delighted with so much splendor but at the same time they're itchy and I sneeze more than usual. With Spring comes the allergies or Hay fever, how it's called. It may be genetic because my Mom doesn't stop sneezing, blowing her nose and scratching her eyes, poor Mama. Anyway, I feel happy to be surrounded by gorgeous flowers and telling Winter good-bye for a while but the pollen in the air can sometimes be overwhelming. I'm looking forward to the Summer but it gets so hot with all my hair. If I get it cut, I don't look handsome and if I leave it long I suffer. There's always something!!! So, I am inviting you to vote for your favorite season in the new poll(scroll down and you'll find it on the left)because as you can see I'm undecided...

Amazing flower

Before I go on blogging about my new "third season", I would like to share with you a few pictures of this "bird flower", native to Thailand, that my Grandma C sent to me by e-mail today. Mother Nature always finds a way to present us with her sublime creations. May everybody find inspiration and peace after contemplating this natural work of art.

Back to normal

Now, I am done with my "second season" and ready to move on to my "third season" the next year, 2007. Hopefully I'll be able to catch up soon and finally enter 2008. There was definetely a lot of stuff going on when my Mom's side of the family came over from Brazil and of course, I had a lot to write about and still do. They all stayed here for a while after the holidays, so there'll be more stuff to be written about their visit.
Back to normal, means now my posts will be showing on the top of the page once you open the main page.
The puppy mills industry is still very strong but, I think I raised a good level of awareness by informing people about it through the "stop puppy mills" post and the You Tube video from The Humane Society, as well as the banners displayed around it, which linked to The Humane Society website. Thus, people could take action and sign the pledge like I did and also invite others to do so.
The "Who is your favorite Beatle?" poll is now closed but John and Paul tied for first place with 50% of the votes each. George and Ringo got second place with 16% of the votes each. I'm glad nobody said they've never heard of The Beatles before, otherwise I would have definetely assumed they live in another planet. Every couple weeks, I plan to have a new poll for you to cast your vote. Ideas welcome!
In the bottom area of the page I made my iPod (Teddy) available to you, so you can check out the songs I'm listening to. Every week, Teddy will feature a 10-12 title playlist, all new, just for you!
